BENGALURU: Did you know it is illegal to admit your child to primary and high schools in months other than April?
Through a circular on February 2, 2011, the department of public instructions has asked all primary and high schools to strictly begin admission process from April when the new academic year begins.
Admissions completed before April will be considered illegal, primary and secondary education minister Visveshwar Hegde Kageri said in his written reply to Abdul Azeem (JDS) in the council on Friday.
Schools affiliated to CBSE and ICSE will not fall within the department's purview, officials said. But other schools are barred from admitting students before the department of public instructions releases the academic calendar, which is commonly issued in March.
