Mangalore:
Be ready to see a new Hampi at Central Maidan on March 5 and 6 with
light and sound movements, if you have not been to Vijayanagara of
Tuluva King Sri Krishnadeva Raya in Kishkindha of Lord Hanuman.
On
the 500th year of Ascension of Vijaynagar throne by the best warrior
known to Vijayanagar Empire (1511-2011), the pomp and pleasure of a
coastal Tuluva dynasty that ruled in a distant hot area of
Bellary/Hospet, is brought up from pages of Indian history for local
viewers.
Mangalore
has been selected by the present BJP Govt as the venue for the entire
coastal belt (3 districts) to denote the splendour that was Vijajanagar
Empire in 1511AD.
The real Humpi is a world heritage site but replicas of its rock
chariot, Vijaya Vithala Temple where Purandara Dasa sang his innumeral
music songs of devotional and had enriched the Kannada Literature with a
vocabulary of pure simple Kannada words, Virupaksha idol in a penance,
the long columns that suggest a Hamaam (bath), the entrance into the
courtyard where the king galloped on a horse-back at top speed to pass
all there.
There
is an Ugra Narasimha (original demolished by Muslim invaders of
Bijapur), a Sasivekalu Ganapathi, Nandi made in a single rock stone, a
Badavi (poor vendor woman) Linga, Vithala Bazaar where jewel stones were
sold in open containers, Lotus Mahal, Kadlekai Ganapa, Elephants’ home
stead, Tulabhara stone even a machine gun on wheels. There are many more
interesting things to note down.
Creative
Director and Film Academy Chief T.S.Nagabharana is forming these images
or replicas to the extent nearest to the original pieces.
Program is scripted by Siddangangaiah Kambal (Nisargapriya). The show is running in 20 selected districts of the state, including Dakshina Kannada.
School /College students can visit the place at 1 pm to 5pm on March 4, and 8am to 2 pm on March 5. Teachers and elders should enable them to take the advantage.
The Sound and Light, with dialogues show starts at 7pm upto 10pm on March 5 and 6. The co-ordination of sounds and light effects with shattering special effects of rain, thunders etc are worth watching, by families in DK. No players take part in the show. Music will do all magic, along with supplementary narrations in the background. Be there with a note book and pen.

About Show : The
show, “Vijayanagara Vaibhava” is unique in many ways. Though, generally
sound and light shows are held at the popular monuments, which act as
backdrops for the depiction of historical incidents with the use of
sound and light effects, this will be a mobile sound and light show.
The organisers of the show, Innovative Lighting Systems, are moving around places hosting the show for department of tourism and the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC).
M K Mutt, Assistant Director said that such an experiment on mobile was the first in India. Also, they have used about 30, 000 watts musics, 50, 000 wats of light in 140 circuit.
“The Vijaya Vittala temple, Stone Chariot, Lotus Mahal, Ugranarasimha statue, Kadalekalu Ganesha, Sasivekalu Ganesha, Virupaksha Temple, Elephant stables, King’s Balance, Anjanadri Hill, Akka-Thangi Bande, Tungabhadra river, Eduru Basavanna, Badavi Linga and many more elements of Hampi are recreated in replicas that are semi-embossed and are made using Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP), wood and metal. The set is arranged at a maximum height of 40 feet.
If filmmaker Nagabharana is the creative director of the show, noted film and theatre personalities like Murali, Ravindranath, Anu Prabhakar, Sudha Rani, Champa Shetty, Sharath Lohithashwa, B V Rajaram and Kalagangotri Kitty have lend their voice. Popular playback singers Rajesh Krishnan, Hemanth Kumar, Chethan and Nanditha have rendered the songs for the show. Around 60 members team coming in 16 vehicles will lead the show.
According to Mutt, the show received tremendous response from the public in Shimoga, Dharwad, Chamarajanagar and Chikkaballapur districts. The school children were also brought to the set to educate them about the heritage site of Hampi and its elements by teachers during the day time, he adds.
The show is a part of the initiative of the KSTDC, the tourism department to commemorate the 500th year of the coronation of Sri Krishnadevaraya. The KSTDC and the tourism department are holding the sound and light shows in select 20 districts in South and North parts of Karnataka.
The show will be held on March 5 and march 6 at 7.30 pm and 8.40 pm.
