CREDAI: Why OK plan first and find fault later?
BANGALORE: "Do not give us
building plan approval at all. Whenever you wish to find fault with us,
come and demolish the structures," is what exasperated CREDAI members say with regard to BBMP's allegations against certain builders in the city in recent times.
"What is the sanctity of building plan approvals? BBMP's random inspection reveals that violations have been found. Why does BBMP approve a plan if the conditions are not met? This has to be answered by the officials who have sanctioned the plans," CREDAI (Confederation of real estate developers' associations of India) members told TOI.
B T Ramesh, engineer-in-chief at BBMP, said the officials are working under pressure. "Whenever these issues are raised, it is the officials who are held responsible. But the unseen hands who pressurize the officials to approve the plans will never come into public glare. Sanction plan is issued by the engineers at the central office, but the field work is done by the zonal assistant executive engineers. There are possibilities of misappropriation.''

"Every corporator is not a town planner by knowledge. Their job is to legislate. Officials must inspect and submit reports. If the allegations are proved, then action can be taken. But while approving the projects, why doesn't BBMP do a thorough job? In the absence of a council in the last five years, there could be ad hoc approvals given by the officials. In such cases, BBMP can cross check the facts.''

Nokia To Launch 10 New Symbian Phones !
Nokia revamps Symbian OS for India :
In the course of the next one year, Nokia plans to introduce up to 10 new Symbian-based smartphones in the country. According to Deloitte estimates, the company commands about 49 per cent of the market share in India.
Nokia is set to launch the N8, E7, C7 and C6-01 with the new Symbian
Anna software update, which includes a number of user experience
improvements. Symbian Anna is an update to the existing Symbian
operating system (OS), and has been driven almost entirely by consumer
feedback. The update would bring a faster web browser, new icons for its
main interface, an update to Ovi Maps and enhanced security features. A
new split-screen view would also be introduced.
“The Symbian Anna upgrade gives users a set of new icons, a faster
web browser, improved text input and enhanced maps. In other words, your
phone would get a free make-over,” says Nokia India’s
recently-appointed director (marketing), Viral Oza, adding by September,
even existing owners of these devices would be able to download Symbian
Anna. He said Symbian and Windows Phone 7 would co-exist until at least
2012. “Nokia has invested an enormous amount in Symbian, and we would
continue to support Symbian devices till 2016,” he asserts.
Talking about the Symbian Anna features, Oza says, “Even business
users would benefit from the improved instant messaging with Microsoft
Communicator Mobile email enhancements, including full-meeting request
support and business grade security, with hardware accelerated
encryption. It also offers easy and secure intranet access for people
who want to get on their company intranet.”
Earlier, announcing the launch of dual-SIM devices at a global event,
Nokia chief executive Stephen Elop said, “Innovation is at the heart of
our strategy, and today, we took important steps to demonstrate a new
pace of innovation at Nokia. It's the beginning of a new era for Nokia."
Elop also underlined the company’s attempt to fortify its entry-level
device offerings. Nokia recently introduced the C-series devices,
including dual and single SIM options, with advanced web and maps
experience for Series 40 (the earlier version of Symbian operating
system) phone users, as well as the choice of a touch screen or a
keypad.
Oza says entry-level and feature phones would be important for Nokia
in India, where value proposition is the key while buying a new device.
Giving users relevant software and services along with the devices is
also critical to maintaining its position. With eight million downloads a
week on its Ovi Store, close to two million email activations and six
million music tracks on its store, Oza insists the company is
streamlining the software division to match the needs of smartphone
users. The company has already announced its intention to its combine
the Navteq mapping unit with its location-based services business.

We used to go out and perform in small little theatres and on stages,” he added.
Sringeri Sharada Peetham !
District: Chikmagalur
Town : Sringeri
Temple : Sringeri Sharada Peetham
Town : Sringeri
Temple : Sringeri Sharada Peetham
Sringeri Math is located in Sringeri town in Chikmagalur district of Karnataka. Sringeri
Sharada Peetham was established by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. It is set
against the backdrop of the beautiful Malnad hills, on the banks of the
Tunga River. This place is named after the great Rishi Rishyashringa.
This matha is one of the Advaita centers of authority. It holds
authority over the Yajur Veda, especially Krishna Yajur Veda among
Smarthas, i.e., followers of the Advaita School.
Sringeri Sharada Peetham – History
The Sringeri Matha is mentioned in traditional sources like Shankara
Vijaya. It is said that Sri Shankaracharya spent twelve years here.
Before leaving for the North, Sri Shankara appointed his disciple Viswarupa as his successor, with the spiritual
title of Suresvaracharya. The Sringeri matha has a recorded history
from the 8th century onwards. The lineage of the gurus of this matha
upto Vidyaranya is given in the Sri Guru Charitra, a 15th century Marathi work.
Sringeri Matha – Mythology
Sringeri derived its name
from the ancient Shringa Giri, the name of a hill here that is believed
to have housed the ashram of Sri Vibhandaka Maharishi and his son Sri
Rishyashringa. Tradition has it that when Sri Shankaracharya was passing
through here, he was captivated by an unusual sight. A cobra had
reared up and spread its hood to shelter a spawning frog from the
scorching sun. Sri Shankara was enchanted by the divinity of the place
which made natural enemies help each other.
Saraswathi Devi, who was accompanying Sri Shankaracharya and his
disciples in the form of a young girl called Bharathi, stayed on in the
spot as Sharada Devi. Sri Shankaracharya established a matha here and it
came to be known as Sri Sharada Peetham, the seat of Sharada Devi.
How to Get to Sringeri Sharada Peetham ?
The nearest airport is located in the city of Mangalore and Shimoga and Kadur are the nearest railheads. Bus services are available from most places in Karnataka to Sringeri.

Anna Hazare's condition for Baba Ramdev !
Ahmednagar (Maharashtra): Yoga icon Baba
Ramdev was seen at Jantar Mantar during social activist Anna Hazare's
hunger strike against corruption in April. But now, aspirations to climb
on to Mr Hazare's Lokpal Bill campaign have hit a bit of a roadblock
after the recent drama involving Baba Ramdev in Delhi.
Now, Anna Hazare has said that should Ramdev want to participate in the campaign against corruption with them, he will have to fulfill certain conditions.
"Baba Ramdev has said that he wants to be a part of the agitation, but we have a few conditions. If it is fulfilled then we will decide whether to have him along," said Mr Hazare. Baba Ramdev and his protest against corruption faced police action when the cops dismantled his huge yoga camp plus sit-in-protest in Delhi on June 5. The police lathicharged and teargassed the 65,000 people who were with Baba Ramdev at Ramlila Maidan; the yoga teacher was evicted and flown back to Uttarakhand.
Opposition parties said the government's action was "a murder of democracy." Other activists like Gandhian Anna Hazare rose to the Baba's defence. Till the Baba made the unwise pronouncement that he would train an army of 11,000 young men and women who would be equipped to strike back if they were attacked. Brakes screeched. Mr Hazare's team said they could not support a statement which threatened violence.
